Chapter 59

Dot came back into her hotel room at the end of day four of solitude and couldn't deny it any longer, she missed Jon and the kids. She had only talked to Jon the day she got here, she's been ignoring her cell phone and since he hasn't left messages she's assuming he's managing. Only problem is she hates admiting he's right. No matter what she wanted, meaning time alone, she needed something even more, her family. She opened up her cell phone and hit 1 send and called Jon's cell.

"Baby?"

"Hi Johnny." She said into the phone.

"It was great, and the shore is beautiful, but." She stopped.

"But what?" he asked putting the rest of the dishes in the dishwasher.

"I miss my family." She admitted she just hoped to God he missed her too.

"We've missed you to baby."

"Come join me." She offered.

"What?" he asked. "I thought you wanted this time for you?"

"I had 4 days of solitude, which is more alone time than I've had in 15 yrs. Jon I can get us a suite, kids in one room us in another. Come see how they've improved Asbury Park."

"Yeah" he smiled as he ran up the steps to the bedroom. "If you want us there we can be there in a few hours."

"Don't wake the kids come up in the morning." She told him still knowing the kids schedules better than anything.

"Jon Romeo and Jake are in bed aren't they?"

"Its ok when you get everyone up and dressed in the morning just drive down I'll text you our room number when I get it."

"Alright." He walked back out to the balcony of their bedroom and sat down enjoying the view while talking to his wife. "So what all have you done since you've been there?"

"Played in the sun, took some great pictures, hold on let me send you this one I had a lady take of me today." She then grabbed the phone putting it back to her ear. "You should be getting it soon."

Before she even finished Jon got the beep in his ear and pulled it away to see the picture. "You like to torture me don't you?" he laughed.

Dot hung up and called the front desk and arranged to change rooms for the next week to a corner suite with an ocean view. Then went to bed.

After they hung up Jon looked at the picture that she had sent and just smiled. "Tomorrow night baby."

The next morning Jon was up at 6 am packing his suitcase at she didn't say how long she wanted to stay but he packed for a week. He then went to Steph and Jesse' rooms and woke both of them up around 7 to tell them to get packed. They both moaned and groaned but eventually got up and packed up what they needed. While they did that Jon packed up things for the two younger boys, he wasn't going to wake them until they got ready to leave.

Around 8 am Jon had gotten everything packed up in the navigator and gotten the two boys up and dressed. A few minutes later the whole family was on their way to see their mom.

"Excited dad?" Steph laughed.

"No why?" he asked calm and cool.

"Yeah right." Steph laughed texting Chris that they were going to be out of town for a bit, mom wanted them to visit her.

"Is it that noticeable?" Jon laughed.

All four of the kids answered at once. "YES"

Jon shook his head as he drove toward the GSP. "So did you let lover boy know you are going to out of town?" Jon teased his daughter that was in the passenger seat.

"Yes I texted him."

"You packed us up before we were done eating." she laughed

"Like you guys don't miss her?"

"Then quit harassing me." He joked while changing lanes because his exit was coming up soon.

"Why haven't you taken us here before?" Steph asked.

"Because we usually just go to the Hamptons for the beach."

"Then why did mom come here instead?" Steph asked.

"It's the Jersey shore Steph, if you live here you should see it at least once."

"Oh ok." Steph believed him and texted Chris that they were at the jersey shore

Thank god she bought that. His eyes remained focused on the the exit coming up, he was only about 15 minutes away from his wife and almost felt like a teenager again with familiar feelings going through him.

He looked up in the rear view mirror and could barely see his son sitting back there. "I'm just happy to see mommy."

Steph put her phone away and helped to get her brothers out of the car.

Jon walked around to the back and got out the suitcases letting Steph and Jesse take their own while he got his and the boys. "Okay guys let's go find our room."

They piled into the elevator which made Jon a little nervous and went to the appropriate floor then walked down the hallway. After a couple of minutes a breathed a sigh of relief and smiled hugely when he knocked on the door.

Dot opened the door and smiled larger than she had in years. "Hi." She whispered when she saw all her kids and her husband standing there.

Chapter 60

He was taken back when he saw her, you would have thought he hadn't seen her in years the way he acted. "Hey"

Dot leaned over the kids and kissed him first. "I love you."

Dot kissed all the kids and then took Jon's hand. "Baby look at this." She pulled him out to the balcony showing him the view of the boardwalk and the shore. "Look how much its changed." She leaned back against him.

"I didn't think it would ever look like this again. It was nice when we used to come here but damn...." he looked out toward the ocean and down the boardwalk while wrapping his arm around her waist.

Jon laughed knowing that when he got dressed those weren't on.

"Guys why don't you go on and change and I'll grab my trunks to." Jon told them. "By the way where is our room?"

"To the left. Steph you have the room to the right and boys you'll be sleeping in the room your standing in."

Jon grabbed his suitcase and was going to go back but he asked Dot to show him where their room was.

Dot opened the door to their room and smiled. "I've missed you Jonny."

"I'd love it but we have kids - lots of them I doubt they'll let us make love while they wait."

Dot was quite impressed he didn't wait for her to round them all up.

"Is there like a side door to get down to the beach or just the main one?"

"Back door." Dot lead them down a hall that the sliding doors opened to the white sand.

"Very nice." Jon walked outside still holding the boys hands and Jake was doing all he could to get free because he saw the water.

"Daddy can we get some of this sand for our river area, its beautiful." Steph asked.

"We can see what we can do." The family walked down the beach to find a spot there wasn't alot of people so that they could keep any eye on the kids easier.

He went down a few minutes later after getting everyones towel laid out on the sand. Being there in that ocean bought back a lot of memories for him.

Knowing that she was slowly fading away he curled up to her warm body. The body that he didn't know what he would do without, the one that kept him warm and cold nights and more importantly the one that made his life complete. He was content with her in his arms and soon fell into blissful sleep.
