Ch 53

"How long are you gonna be gone?" he asked softly with his blue eyes glistening.

"I don't know Jon. I really don't."

He nodded then stood up grabbing her suitcase. "I'll take this down for ya."

She touched his cheek. "Jon I'm not doing this to punish you." She softly kissed him. "I'm doing this to find me."

"I know." he replied softly while opening the door for her. "And I realize you need that break from us."

"I'll meet you downstairs I want to say goodbye to the kids."

He picked up her suitcase and carried it to the bottom of the steps finally realizing that she was actually going away without him and the kids. And who could blame her? Jon himself had given her hell the past few weeks.

Dot walked into Steph's room and Jesse's room without much of an issue and told them both she was taking a little time away and dad was going to be watching them. The younger boys however didn't like that idea. She ended up with Romeo in her arms as she came downstairs.

"You ready?" Jon asked then turned around to see her holding their youngest son.

"Yes but somebody won't let go." She advised hoping that Jon is going to step up now.

He walked over towards her talking to his son. "Hey little man why don't you come to daddy." Jon extended his arms hoping his son would reach for him.

"NO NEED MOMMY" Romeo told Jon.'

"Mommy needs some alone time okay."

"NO she need me and the dragons." Romeo told daddy hoping he'd understand now.

"I tell you what if let mommy go then we will play dragons all day tomorrow."

"No, suposd play today. Mommy said." Romeo explained to daddy.

"Romeo I'm sorry buddy I just need a few days but you get to teach daddy all about dragons now." Dot told him trying to hand him to Jon.

Jon reached out his arms finally getting his youngest son and wiping the tears away. "Listen little man the sooner mommy leaves the sooner she comes back to us ok." he said softly trying to get his son to calm down.

"Otay but I not like it." Romeo got down and ran into the house.

"Thanks Jon." Dot whispered.

"How does it feel being on that side?" he smiled softly taking her bag out to the vehicle.

"Hard but it was hard when we went to Hawaii too." Dot wasn't going to give in before she ever left.

"Yeah but you had me going with you." He took in a deep breath as he slid her suitcase in the trunk then shut it before walking her over to the door. "Any idea where you are going?"

"Somewhere near water."

Jon smiled. "That narrows it down to half the country."

"I'll call you tonight when I stop." Dot smiled. She then leaned in and kissed him softly.

"Alright...be careful baby." he told her then moved back in for a kiss but opened his mouth slightly as did she. "I love you baby."

"I love you." She smiled and kissed him again, finally breaking away before her will to do so was gone. She stepped back and opened her car door. "Take care Jon."

"Take care? That makes it sound like your not coming back." he told her with a little sadness.

"You know I'm coming back." She really needed him to understand why she was doing this.

"I know but I just want you to take a good look at the house before you leave."

"Why do you plan on burning it down before I return?" She smiled.

He laughed softly. "Cause since you are leaving I'm in charge of cooking."

"Well the two oldest do know how to call for pizza." Dot kissed him, "I love you Jon I'll talk to you soon."

"I'll be waitin' on that phone to ring but in the mean time I have a little one inside that I need to try to get to bed."

"Have fun." Dot closed her car door and buckled her seatbelt, slowly driving away from her house, her kids and her husband.

Jon stood in the driveway waving as she left and once she was out of sight he went back into the house to find his youngest son.

Once back in the house Jon saw Romeo sitting halfway up the stairs that led to the bedrooms so he walked up and picked him up into his arms. He hated seeing him so upset, so he carried him into his bedroom and put him in the bed. "Why don't we ready you a story ok?"

"K'ay" Romeo said sadly curling up on his bed towards his dad.

They sat there for about twenty minutes then finally Romeo had dozed off to sleep so Jon took the chance to slip out of his room. But before he left, he pulled the covers up over his son then kissed him on the forehead.

On the way back to the master bedroom he stopped in to the other kids rooms but they were already asleep, including Jake. But Jon knew that the two youngest end up in the bedroom with him because they always tend to sleep in the room with Jon and Dot the first few weeks after he comes home. After he got back to his room he took a quick shower then slipped on a pair of boxers before climbing into bed. He wasn't sure when Dot would call so he turned on the tv and flipped through what seemed a hundred channels.

Chapter 54

As she drove out onto Navesink River Road Dot felt a sense of apprehension. Could Jon seriously handle the kids overnight let alone for a week? She had to make him try; it was time that she stepped back. There are certain things that boys need their daddy for and they have to know its ok to go to him. The boys will never do that if they don’t know dad is a competent parent. Dot turned the car and got onto the GSP heading south. As she did she turned up her radio and sang along to a song she recognized.

Before she realized it she was down near Asbury Park and the car was exiting to go there without her consent. She smiled knowing why, this was ultimately where she fell in love with Jon. She drove up to the Beaumont Hotel on the shore. She proceeded to move through the luxury lobby, reserve a fantastic premier suite for the week. She moved her car to the correct spot and carried her bag in, and up to her room.

After arriving in the room and setting things down and picked up her phone and called Jon.

The phone didn't even ring two times before he flipped it open. "Hey baby."

"Hi honey how are you?" She asked.

"Doing good. Kids are in bed already."

"All of them?' Dot smiled.

"Yeah well kind of." he smiled. "Steph and Jesse were watching tv.""

"Cool. I'm looking at the ocean from my balcony." She smiled.

"Really? Where are ya at if you don't mind me asking."

"Asbury Park."

"We had some good times there." he smiled laying back on her pillow.

"Yes, and I can see the Pony if I look the right way." She smiled.

"I'm thinking they've really improved this area, it didn't' look nearly as run down as it did last time we came through, I'll be able to tell more in the morning though."

"I had heard they were building up but wasn't sure exactly what they meant when I had heard it."

"I hope they are restoring it, I remember so many nights on the beach and the boardwalk." Dot sat down on her patio and just smiled to herself.

"What made you go there anyway?" he asked curiously. "Just the memories?"

Dot laughed. "I have no idea I was just driving south singing along to the radio and my car took the exit."

He laughed softly getting out of the bed and going to the window that overlooked the river. "Yeah you didn't buy that when we were younger and I told you that."

"With you it was never true, you always had a gig at the Pony or the Fast lane to get to here."

"No there were a few time we went down there just to be alone."

'Yeah, I miss those times." Dot said walking back into the bedroom a stripping out of what she was wearing and put on a Jovi shirt for bed. She then took Jon with her into the bathroom to brush her hair.

"Me to." he told her softly. "When you come back home maybe we could go down there again sometime." He walked out onto the balcony as he continued talking to her but couldn't help but wander if she missed him already. Even though she had been gone for a couple of hours he already missed her.

"Well honey I'm gonna get off the phone and go soak in the hot tub with a book."

He smiled at the visual of her in the tub soaking because it was something she used to do before the kids came into their lives. "Enjoy yourself baby.....you deserve it." Just as he said that, he turned back to go inside the bedroom and saw Jesse standing there.

"I love you Jon I'll talk to you soon." Dot smiled and turned the water on.

"I love you to Dot. Sleep tight baby." he smiled into the phone hating to hang up but knew she need this time for herself.

Chapter 55

Jesse looked at his dad. "Can we talk? Or are you busy?"

Jon nodded as he finished up the phone call then stood there looking at his son. "I was just talking to your mom. What's up?"

"I'm sorry about earlier. I do want to know things but its uncomfortable talking about it on the spot."

"Believe me its not any easier being on this side either." he smiled.

"You wanna go out to the balcony and talk?"

"Sure." He looked down, hell why can't he just know everything and not have to talk about it.

They both walked outside with Jon sitting on the small couch and Jesse in the chair across from him. "This is going to be a serious talk right?" Jon questioned not wanting to waste his time if Jesse was just going to joke.

"I'm gonna try but dad, this is the worst conversation, having to talk about sex" He shook his head, "With your dad."

"If you like we can get your mom to do it." he joked.

"Hey not fair."

"Imagine having to talk about this with her. I had to ask Nana a question one time because dad wasn't there and it was the worst thing ever." he smiled trying to put his son at ease.

"Well I think I know the actually mechanics cos they taught us in health class that the penis goes in the vagina then babies are made but that’s all I know." Jesse admitted rather quickly.

"Yeah that's pretty much how it works but there's a little more to it than that. But keep in mind that just a few seconds is all you need to slip up and get a girl pregnant."

"I don't want kids, Romeo and Jake are headaches enough." Jesse told him.

"When I was your age kids weren't on my list of things to have either but as you get older you will change your mind."

"I don't know anything about birth control they told us in health class its prohibited to talk about."

"Prohibited? That's one thing they need to teach you about."

"The teacher said too many parents complained and said that its their place to choose what their kids know so our talk of sex was what boy parts are called what girl parts are called and that one goes in the other - then we moved on to talking about the flu."

Jon shook his head partially understanding the parents but on the other he hand he thought about all the parents that wouldn't talk to their kids and they would have to learn by making bad choices.
"You know what a condom is though right? And the pill that women take?"

"No." Jesse honestly hadn't even thought about girls until Melissa
kissed him at school.

"I'll be back in a second." Jon stood up and walked into his bedroom then went to the bathroom. He hadn't used condoms in years but knew that he still had a couple lying around. After getting what he needed, he walked back outside and handed the small foil package to his son. "That is something that not only protects you from getting a girl pregnant but increases the risk for any type of diseases."

"What do I do with it Dad?" Jesse asked him.

"You can open that one if you want, just to see what it looks like. Just when you open it be careful not to tear it or anything otherwise that could be disastrous."

Jesse tore the wrapper open and pulled out the condom. "Dad seriously what the hell does this thing do?"

"This keeps you from being a dad before you're ready." he told him as he sat back down. "Any idea how to put it on? And no I'm not going to show you if you don't but I'll explain it." he laughed.

"Dad its flat I don't know where I'd put it." Jesse felt like a fool. Was this a joke. "Dad seriously are you being serious or pulling a joke on me?"

"No I'm being serious son." He took in a deep breath and leaned over with his elbows on his knees while sitting on the edge of his seat. "Have you gotten a hard on yet?" Jon asked really unsure because Jesse hadn't been completely honest earlier.

"Yes, I wake up with them some days."

"Okay well when your with a girl and ready to have sex with her, that's when you need to put that over you"

"Over my hard on?"

"Yes but you have to be careful when you do it." Jon reached over and took the condom from his son and held the tip of it. "Be sure to do that when you roll it down yourself, that’s less of a chance you have of the condom breaking."

"How does this fit over my underwear?" Jesse asked.

"It doesn't son. Chances are when you get ready to use it you will be almost naked anyway."

"NAKED WITH A GIRL?!" Jesse was astonished that his dad would lie to him like this.

"Yeah." Jon arched a brow wondering what his son thought sex actually was. "Thats normally how you have sex."

"Well that’s not happening then."

"It will eventually Jesse there's no way around it."

"Why do we have to be naked, can't she be so I can get to the parts I want and I'll just unzip and go from there?"

"You can but it's just not very comfortable, I wouldn't suggest it." he smiled hoping his son would take the hint and not have sex until he was older. "Why are you afraid of it for?" he asked curiously.

"Well" Jesse looked down at the ground, "Its not that big, what if she laughs?"

"Locker room?" Jon asked knowing exactly what his son is going through.

"Yes, I wasn't looking intentionally but come on mines not like that. I think there is something wrong with me."

"No there isn't you're 13 and you haven't hit your growth spurt yet. Believe me I was the same way at your age but by the time you are 16 or 17 things will change trust me." Jon assured him.

"Are you sure?" Jesse asked him. Ignoring the conversation about condoms now.

"I'm positive, don't worry about it." he smiled reassuringly. "Do you have any other questions about condoms though?" He wanted Jesse to be complete honest and let him know that he was here if he did have questions.

"I don't plan on using one of those for a long time, they feel gross."

"That's just the lubricant on them to make it less painful for the woman."

"Sex is painful for the woman?" Jesse asked.

"I shouldn't have really said painful I don't guess but it's just easier on both partners if you can slide yourself in without any trouble."

"Shouldn't she be wet, in health class the teacher says girls get lubricated inside by themselves."

"Yeah for the most part but if you really want to be with her she may not be ready yet. And what I mean is that sometimes it just takes a little extra foreplay to get her wet"

"Foreplay? Is that the kissing stuff?"

He nodded. "And touching each other."

"Ok but why does the foreplay stuff have to end that’s fun." Jesse told his dad.

"It doesn't really I don't guess. If that’s what you and the girl you are with want to do then that’s perfectly fine, just remember just because you want to be with someone and touch them it doesn't necessarily have to end with sex." He leaned back onto the couch and propped up his feet on the table in front of him. "Is this making sense to you?"

"Not really cos earlier you were saying I shouldn't kiss and feel her up and now you're saying that’s ok?"

"I never said you shouldn't but I want you to know what it can lead to. A simple touch can put your hormones in overdrive and I just want you to be prepared."

"Well how do I know when I've gone to far to turn back?"

"You have to trust yourself to know what's to much but once you reach a certain level it's hard to stop I'm not going to lie to you."

"Where's that level?"

"Lets say you are with a girl and you are on the couch sitting up and she straddles your lap. The sensation of her moving against you will make you think with the wrong body part and can lead to sex if you aren't careful. That's why I wanted to talk to you now before that even happened so you would know what you were getting yourself into."

"But dad you're being vague, her just sitting on my lap will make us have sex?"

"No" Jon laughed. "What I mean is if she moves up to where your penis is and rests her part on you then that can lead to it. Even through clothing its an amazing sensation for both partners."

"But can't we play like that, won't that feel good for her too?"

"Yeah it will and you can but just be careful not to get out of control."

"So is that what you mean by keep it in my pants?" Jesse asked.

"Exactly, unless you are fully prepared to be with her."

"How long were you with mom before you had sex with her?"

"We had been going out about a month but we had known each other for about four months before that."

"Ok dad."

"Anything else you want to know just ask son that's what I'm here for."

"Ok, thanks dad." Jesse gets up and runs from the room.

"Thank god those other two are a long way from this conversation." he laughed softly then walked back into the bedroom and climbed into the bed.
